2018 marks 20 years since the first Harry Potter book was released in the United States. Panelists Tabitha Davis (Geek Magazine), Kelly King (teacher), Ellen Lee (teaching assistant), Jeannie Lin (animal lover, conservationist), Jenny Mendoza (graphic designer), and Heather Nicholson (attorney) discuss all the areas of the fandom that are still going strong: fan groups, events, and destination travel. They will cover ways people use Harry Potter in their Muggle careers in everything from law to teaching the next generation, as well as raising children in the fandom, enjoying cosplay, and reading as a family. They’ll also explore the new Fantastic Beasts universe, discussing Newt Scamander’s true passion as a magical beast conservationist taking a look at the graphic arts from the movie and its mixture of 1920s-era and wizard design, and discussing newly released images from the second Fantastic Beasts movie premiering in November. Moderated by Adrienne Alwag-Aipia (multicultural marketing director and globetrotter).
